In 2001 the rapper Tech N9ne from Kansas City emerged on to the music scene with the release of his third studio album Anghellic. While this was not the first commercial CD that Tech released it was the debut project produced by the newly formed independent record label Strange Music which was established by the rapper along with the help of the entrepreneur Travis O'Guin. There were many mixed reviews from critics but the majority of them agreed that it was an excellent album and its highlights were the use of Tech's superior lyricism and wicked sense of humor. The album peaked at number 59 on the Billboard 200 on September 15, 2001 and number 50 on the rap and hip hop charts and has sold over 250,000 copies as of today. In 2003 it was released as Anghellic: Reparation exclusively through Strange Music with a few extra songs and a rearrangement of the track listing.
